Christ’s Authority And The Gift of Eternal Life
In this message from John 17:2, we are invited into the eternal counsel of the Godhead as Jesus prays to the Father. He declares that all authority over humanity has been given to Him—not as a distant King, but as the Mediator appointed to give eternal life to those the Father has given Him. We explore the source, scope, and purpose of Christ’s authority, the certainty of the salvation He secures, and the assurance this gives to the believer. This verse shows us the sovereign love of God in election, the richness of eternal life as communion with the triune God, and the glory of Christ who reigns with power and grace. It is a call to worship, to submission, and to rest in the sufficiency of His finished work.
