Justified by Works?
In Part Two of this sermon on James 2:21-26, (part one is found here)we meet Rahab, a Gentile prostitute from Jericho saved by the same grace through the same faith as Abraham, and we hear James’s closing picture of a body without breath: faith without works is dead. Works are never the ground or the instrument of our justification, only its fruit and evidence. We also test Rome’s reading of James and the modern claim that final salvation is not by faith alone. We finish at the cross, resting not in our works but in what Christ has finished.
