James 3v1-5

The Power Of The Tongue

Words are small, but they never vanish. In James 3:1 to 5a, James warns that those who teach will be judged with greater strictness, then widens the point to us all: we all stumble, and the tongue is where we so often do it. Like a bit in a horse’s mouth or a rudder on a ship, this small member steers the whole of a life. No one passes the test of perfect speech except Christ, whose righteousness is credited to all who trust him. By his Spirit he now takes the helm of our hearts.
