Don’t Compare. Follow Christ
In this sermon from John 21:20–23, “Do Not Compare. Follow Christ,” we confront a deeply rooted issue in the Christian life. The tendency to measure our path against others. After restoring Peter and revealing the cost of his calling, Jesus redirects him away from comparison with John and back to personal obedience. “What is that to you? You follow me.” This message unpacks how comparison flows from pride, distorts our view of God’s providence, and distracts us from faithful discipleship. Grounded in the gospel, we are reminded that Christ has already obeyed perfectly on our behalf, freeing us to follow Him without striving, envy, or fear. The Christian life is not about matching another’s journey, but about trusting Christ and walking faithfully in the path He has personally appointed.
