James 2v21-26

Justified by Works?

James 2:24 says a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. It seems to contradict Paul, but it does not. In Part One of this sermon on James 2:21-26, we ask what James means by “justified” and discover that Abraham was counted righteous in Genesis 15, long before he offered Isaac in Genesis 22. His obedience showed his faith was real. We then see that Paul and James are treating opposite diseases, Paul the legalist and James the presumer, and that neither teaches faith plus works. Our standing before God rests on Christ alone, received by faith alone.
