The Church Behind Locked Doors
In John 20:19–23 we see the church at its weakest. Fearful disciples hiding behind locked doors. Yet the risen Christ comes and stands among them, declaring “Peace be with you.” This peace is not emotional reassurance but objective reconciliation secured through His cross and vindicated by His resurrection. From that settled peace He sends His church into the world under His authority and with the gift of the Holy Spirit. The message presses us to rest our assurance not in our strength, but in the finished work and present reign of Christ, who meets fearful sinners with peace and empowers them for faithful gospel witness.
