That You May Believe
In this concluding message from Gospel of John (John 20:30–31), we explore the Spirit-given purpose of the entire Gospel. After twenty chapters of signs, teaching, rejection, crucifixion, and resurrection, the apostle explains why everything was written. That we may believe that Jesus Christ is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing we may have life in His name. The sermon reflects on the selective signs recorded in Scripture, the sufficiency of God’s written Word, the true content of saving faith, and the promise of eternal life that flows from union with Christ. Looking back across the whole Gospel, the message shows how the resurrection confirms every claim Christ made and calls each listener to rest not in the strength of their belief, but in the sufficiency of the risen Saviour.
