The book of Joel is a powerful prophetic message calling God’s covenant people to repentance and renewed faithfulness in the face of divine judgement. Written during a time of devastating locust plagues, Joel uses this catastrophe as a vivid picture of the “Day of the LORD”God’s righteous intervention in history to judge sin and to deliver His people. Yet, interwoven with warnings are rich promises of mercy: if God’s people return to Him with sincere repentance, He will restore and bless them, even pouring out His Spirit upon all flesh. In this study, we will explore how Joel reveals God’s holiness, His justice against sin, and His boundless grace towards the repentant, pointing ultimately to the fulfilment of His promises in Christ and the hope of the final day of the LORD.
