It is Finished
This message centres on the climactic moment of the cross, where Jesus consciously fulfils Scripture, bears the covenant curse, and declares with final authority, “It is finished.” Far from a cry of defeat, Christ’s words announce the full completion of the work of redemption. He drinks the cup of wrath to its last drop, fulfils every demand of the law, and secures salvation once for all for His people. The sermon traces how Christ’s thirst, His final declaration, and His voluntary surrender of His spirit reveal a deliberate, sovereign, and sufficient atonement rooted in God’s eternal plan.
The message calls believers to rest entirely in the finished work of Christ. Nothing can be added to His obedience, nothing can supplement His sacrifice, and nothing can overturn His victory. Because the debt of sin has been nailed to the cross, there is now no condemnation for those in Christ. The cross marks the end of guilt, fear, and self-reliance, and the beginning of true gospel rest.
