The Scourged King
In John 19:1–5 we behold the King in humiliation, scourged, mocked, and crowned with thorns. Nathan Tarrant explains that Pilate thought to present Him in weakness, saying, “Behold the Man!” Yet in God’s sovereign design, this moment reveals the glory of Christ: the Second Adam bearing the covenant curse, the true King reigning from shame, the Savior who wore thorns that His people might wear the crown of life.
