The Danger of Distance. the hope of Return
In this message from John 18:15–18, we witness the beginning of Peter’s unraveling as fear, pride, and self-confidence lead him to deny the Lord he once swore to follow unto death. But Peter’s failure did not begin with words, it began with distance.
As he follows Christ from afar and warms himself by the fire of Christ’s enemies, we see a powerful warning to every believer who is tempted to remain close enough to Jesus for comfort, but far enough for safety.
This sermon calls us to examine the quiet ways we may deny Christ not by what we say, but by what we fail to say, where we choose to stand, and whose approval we seek. Yet even in Peter’s failure, we find hope in Christ’s unshakable faithfulness the One who prays for His people, bears their shame, and restores those who are truly His.
